Northern Lights Husky Tours

Journeys out into the wilderness to experience the best of the northern lights are available on our 6 km 'silent landscapes' tracks. Although we use the same track as in the daytime, we classify the route as intermediate vs easy, simply because of the added challenge of sledding at night with reduced visibility. Night-time safaris often take a little longer than their daytime counterparts but there is no more magical and breath-taking experience than riding with the dogs under a star-filled sky, with northern-lights running through the heavens above.

Of course, we cannot guarantee what the weather will bring but it doesn’t really matter. Night-time safaris are always unique and very different to mushing in day-light hours. When you head out into the vast wilderness with your dogs, you get a new appreciation of how local people live their lives and the solitary moments in nature that make everything worthwhile.

We use head-torches when necessary although an unexpected amount of light reflects off the snowy marshes and from the starry skies above, particularly under a full moon. Hence, with eyes adjusted to the light, we often glide silently through the primeval landscape without external lights. If the northern lights grace us with their presence, it will be an experience you will remember for a very long time.

Night-time safaris are slightly more expensive than their daytime counterparts since we have to have a higher guide to client ratio, use headlights and farm-lights pre, during and post-safari, and carry out more extensive safety checks for both dogs and clients than in the daylight hours.
