100 Days of Polar Night

In the northern Finland the heart of winter lasts 100 days. As the mood and light vary countless times during this magical period, it’s impossible to experience all aspects of it during a short visit.

That’s why VisitFinland.com and FinnAir are organising a mighty expedition, letting outdoor enthusiasts experience a true winter in a way that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.

The journey consists of 18 stages, one and only experiences which will definitely engage the outdoor enthusiasts for the 3 months.

Led by renowned athlete and wilderness expert Pasi Ikonen, the journey will guide explorers through the stages of Finland’s winter, whether in the thrilling snowy mountains to the serene old-world countryside.

Adventurers can experience a wide array of quintessentially Finnish activities, from snowshoeing through snowy forests, climbing frozen waterfalls, and cruising on an icebreaker; to enjoying a serene white Christmas in Santa Claus’ supposed hometown of Lapland, and then celebrating in the streets of Helsinki. Animal lovers can also interact with Finland’s own, whether when mushing with Huskies in snow safaris or while herding reindeer.
